Since the city is located in an ecological tension zone and is surrounded by fertile prairie soil, agriculture was historically one of the most important sources of income for its inhabitants. Many classic Wisconsin landmarks reside in Milwaukee, including Miller Park, the Milwaukee Art Museum, and the historic Pabst and Miller breweries. It also has one of the best-developed park systems in the U.S. with more than 150 parks and 15,000 acres of green area. Milwaukee has a lively ecosystem that largely extends into the populated areas and contains countless species of plants, birds, and animals. That?s why it?s pretty common to encounter wildlife such as squirrels, raccoons, possum, foxes, coyotes and deer living amongst this human-dominated land.
