LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
Laser tattoo removal is a simple out-patient procedure that uses specific lasers to target tattoo inks, break them down, and gradually remove them from the body.  The process is far less evasive than getting a tattoo, and performed in far less time.  Treatments are given in a series of sessions, each one usually taking from 5-15 minutes or less.  Patients have been known to have treatments on their lunch break and return right back to work the same day.

Atlantic Laser Tattoo Removal uses a q-switched Nd: Yag laser, the most effective laser in the world at removing tattoo ink.  Laser tattoo removal works by directing light, (laser) energy at the tattooed area for a fraction of a second, passing harmlessly through the outer layers of skin, and focusing on the tattoo ink directly. The laser disrupts the ink, allowing the body to break it down and flush it out naturally.  The energy from the laser is measured in pulses that are delivered very fast, between 10 and 40 nanoseconds in duration.  The speed here is what is important, this new q-switched technology is what is allowing us the ability to target the tattoo ink without harming the surrounding skin.
Another feature these advanced lasers provide is called "frequency doubling".  This technology gives us the ability to have different wavelenghs of laser energy from the same laser.  Each of these different wavelenghs target specific colors of ink in tattoos, making tattoos with multiple colors easier to remove.

Factors that determine your laser tattoo removal treatment
There are many factors that will determine if you are a good candidate for tattoo removal including:
1. color  Most tattoo pigment can be removed effectively starting with black and reds being the easiest
2. age  Older tattoos are easier to remove than newer ones
3. professional verse homemade  Professional tattoos are typically harder to remove than homemade

Complete Removal or Partial Removal/Shading for a cover-up tattoo-
Laser tattoo removal can done two different ways.  The first option is complete removal, this is when a client does not have any desire for the tattoo they have currently.  This process is a time consuming process but clients that have reasonable expectations are thoroughly satisfied.  Once a client desides at their free consultation they are dedicated to removing their tattoo, we begin with their initial treatment.  We then schedule their follow-up appointments 4-6 weeks apart till their expectations are met.  Most professional tattoos take between 6-10 treatments to completely remove all tattoo pigment.
Partial Removal or shading of a tattoo is also done for clients that desire an unwanted to be partially removed to make room for a new tattoo.  This process of lightening a tattoo is the same as if a client wanted to remove a tattoo it is just achieved in less treatments.  Your certified laser specialist will basically take a shade or two off your existing tattoo and your tattoo artist will then retattoo the exact spot as the original.  This process is done in as little as 1-3 treatments.

Questions to ask your provider
Are the providers specialists in laser tattoo removal or is it just one of many procedures they perform in the same facility?

What laser technology are they using? Are they using an older outdated laser? Finding out this information should be as ea
