General Information
It's one of the original Olympic sports - and great for building
mental focus, perseverance, confidence, patience and, of course, upper
body strength!
We have seasonal adult leagues, SO REGISTER as http://archery.meetup.com/14/ NOW FOR YOUR
FIRST WARMUP MEETUP - AND GET PRACTICING - SO YOU'LL BE READY !
STEP 1: REGISTER
Register for a
Warmup Meetup. This session is separate from the main meetups. We
provide basic recurve bows and equipment. It's also more fun, if you
bring a friend to learn with you! (We accept cash or checks only.) You
don't need any experience to join. We coach beginners to nationally
competitive archers.
STEP 2: BECOME A MEMBER OF AUSTIN TARGET ARCHERS
Join now at http://archery.meetup.com/14/, so you can RSVP to the meetup warmups and regular meetups later.
STEP 3: QUALIFY
In
order to join the archery meetups, we need to know that everyone is a
safe archer and at least knows the basics of how to shoot, so you need
to come to one of the Warmup Meetups first. Most people "qualify"
in one of these sessions to attend the other meetups. If for some
reason you don't quite qualify, you can come to the next warmup meetup
and try again.
STEP 4: COME TO THE ADULT ARCHERY MEETUPS
We also have outdoor sessions for active, advanced, and approved members.
After
you qualify, and have shot 200+ pts. at 18m (20 yds) (which could
happen in the qualifying class, if you're an experienced archer), you
can join the Outdoor Advanced Archers Program with Coach Alex's
approval. You can also work up to this level through the archery
meetups. To shoot outdoors, you'll need to have
your own bow, carbon arrows, sight, stabilizer, etc., which is standard
equipment to shoot at this level and distances (30, 50, 70, 90 m for
men and 30, 50, 60, 70 m for women).
WHO WE ARE / WHAT TO EXPECT:
We have year-around indoor and outdoor adult meetups in Olympic target archery (not 3-D, field archery, or bowhunting)
We
are a target archery training center, so all your time in the range
will be under instruction in fun, but structured, progressive sessions.

We're NOT an archery range where you pay per hour just to shoot.
If you want to learn how to shoot or how to shoot better, then you've found the right place.
Our main aim is to help you become the best target archer you can be!
We've been coaching archery for 14 years and are USA Archery-certified coaches and instructors.
This
USA Archery Adult Training Program is in support of our Junior Olympic
Archery Development Program for kids 8-18...so as you train, your fees
will also support the Junior Olympic kids and help get them to the
national tournaments ! It's a good thing!
If you'd like to learn about the sport before joining, go to http://www.usarchery.org and http://www.archery.org where you'll see some amazing archery!
BRING A FRIEND TO QUALIFY:
If
you have already qualified, and would like to bring a friend or
introduce another person to archery, your friend(s) needs to register
for a warmup meetup by becoming a member and RSVP'ing "Yes" to one of
the warmup meetups.
RANGE:
The space in the indoor
range is limited, so we will be taking a maximum of 16 archers each
week. This gives us two lines of 8 archers, which is fun and manageable
for the coaches, and gives you time to socialize between shooting ends!

Please note you can only shoot at pre-arranged times, and a USA
Archery-certified instructor or coach must be present in the range or
on the field at all times.
FEES:
Registration fees of $20
per person are due at the beginning of each meetup. We only take cash
or checks. Basic recurve bows and equipment are provided!
