Warning, hire at your own risk. Nick (the owner) seemed to be a straight up, honest guy; however, he does not keep his word nor does he take accountability for his mistakes. The work that was completed was incredibly shoddy but the main grievance I have is that Nick's Bobcat leaked ALL of it's hydraulic fluid over half my driveway. Because it was so much, there was no way to absorb it all before it started eating away at my asphalt. This is forcing me to have to repave my driveway and Nick is ignoring that it is his fault (and my attempts to contact him).

As for the shoddy work, I had 2 retaining walls to repair plus a "patch" fix on my driveway.

For the main wall (which was a big job), Nick told me in the "sales pitch" that they would replace the weeping tile, put in new gravel, tamp each layer down, put in an outlet for the water to drain, put on new top soil, and seed. Well, NONE of that actually happened. Once the wall was set straight, they basically dumped everything back in and considered it done. I had to put another yard of top soil on and seed it myself. The other problem that I have with this wall is Nick's attention to detail. The facing of the wall is 'finished'; however, when he put (what he calls) "tie backs" into place, he didn't even bother buying ones that had a 'finished' edge so, basically, the wall looks great except for the 2 spots where there is smooth, unfinished spots.

For the other wall, unlike the main wall, they didn't go back far enough to 'blend' the wall from where it is angled to where it is level leaving a HUGE gap which is basically the height of a full block. Plus, when they put the wall back together, keeping in mind that the materials were already there, they put it back wrong so there are huge gaps / holes / spaces at the stairs. The only response I got from Nick on this was, "they used all the pieces"... Yes, but just because you used everything doesn't mean it was done right or well. The other ISSUE I have is that they didn't even clean up after themselves; leaving mud, dirt, and gravel all over the driveway.

For the "patch" fix, it was horribly done and looked like (and mentioned to me by a few people coming to quote replacing the driveway) that they only used a rake and didn't tamp it properly. Plus, it ended up being 1/4" LOWER than the driveway (which made the spot worst than what they fixed).

Nick's only comments during my attempts to get this fixed is that he "did me a favour" by agreeing to my budget; however, I now am stuck spending more money to get someone that KNOWS what they are doing to come in a fix this fiasco. The other word of warning is that Nick pushes to get paid BEFORE the work is finished because, I'm sure, he has problems getting paid after due to the quality of work that he doesn't put into the job.
