I love painting murals for a few reasons!

1. The client picks the subject. There something to be said for not knowing what you are about to paint until the client says it. Whether you know how to paint/draw it or not, you don't want to disappoint the client so you just do it. It seems every mural I have done in the past year has been subjects I have never painted before. I have had to teach myself how to do paint the subject, how to shade it, how to make it look realistic or cartoonish (if that's a word). It's a wonderful experience knowing I can do something I didn't think I could do. I love it!

2. The bigger, the better! I have always painted on canvases. Always around the same size, always with the same media, same medium. To paint a mural, I get to spread out, use large brush strokes and not have limits! That's awesome! Murals can be so creative and unique, there’s no rule to it, I think. As long as I stay within the guidelines and wants of the client, I get to have fun it! I love it!

3. It’s timeless! Whether the mural is for a business or someone's home, it's a timeless piece of art. Or at least until it's painted over. Murals have a way of catching someone's attention, drawing them to it without the person even realizing it. Whether it's a huge floor to ceiling mural or sporadic mural, bits and pieces all over the room, it will always be well appreciated! I love it!
